The Barbican Heron Returns

Note, there will be more colour than normal in this post.

The Barbican lake and the area surrounding it is home to a variety of wildlife. Among the most impressive visitors is the heron, but it's been a while since I saw one.

There's been plenty of birdlife in the meantime, the obligatory ducks of course, and more besides:

I've even seen what I think was a cormorant. But I've not seen the heron in over two years.

So it was great to hear recently that a heron had been sighted. I wasn't able to head out with my camera immediately, but last weekend I happened to be in the area with a good enough lens, and managed a few pictures.

Not, perhaps, my very best images (better efforts from past visits below), but very nice to see a heron here again all the same.
